Five machines sold to customers across India

DGM India has signed multiple deals in the first few days of drupa 2024, announcing agreements to sell five machines to four companies across India. The deals include SmartFold folder gluers and Technocut die cutters.

Mumbai-based Paramount has agreed to purchase a SmartFold 800PC automatic folder gluer. Angad Enterprise, based in Kalaamb, Himachal Pradesh, has ordered a DGM SmartFold 1100SL for its upcoming unit. Kolkata-based York Print has signed a deal for two DGM Technocut 1050S die-cutters with stripping, and Ahmedabad-based Rightway Packaging has ordered a DGM SmartFold 1100SL.

“These orders indicate that DGM now has a presence in all parts of India. The Indian packaging market is growing rapidly, and converters are investing in new machines. DGM India is experiencing robust growth, and we are in the process of expanding our employee count in the coming months to better serve our growing customer base. Our focus will be on building a strong and agile post-sales service team,” said Puneet Agarwal of DGM Automation India.

DGM India is also working on setting up an assembly unit in India. The company already has a demo centre in Noida, which was inaugurated a year ago.

“If the visa issues between India and China are resolved, we will start some assembly operations in India. We have space in Noida that we should utilize. However, the extent of the assembly work we will undertake is yet to be determined. But yes, this is in the pipeline. We will start with assembly and then move to manufacturing in India. We are very optimistic about the long-term potential of the Indian market,” Agarwal said.

DGM is showcasing its flagship SmartFold Servo X 1100-SL folder gluer and Technocut 1050-S die cutter at Drupa 2024.

“The SmartFold Servo X 1100-SL folder gluer is not currently installed in India, with installations mainly in Europe and North America. However, we have multiple installations of the Technocut 1050-S die cutter in India,” Agarwal said.

The SmartFold Servo X 1100-SL is an automatic high-speed intelligent folder gluer suitable for straight-line, crash lock bottom, double-wall, and 4- and 6-corner boxes. The Technocut 1050-S is a fully automatic flat die-cutting and creasing machine designed for large-format cutting with precise centering and stripping. The machine is equipped with an automatic feeder with a non-stop system, featuring four lift-up and four forwarding suckers, capable of handling a wide range of materials from paper (80gsm – 2000gsm) to corrugated board (5mm).

Packaging South Asia — resilient, growing and impactful — daily, monthly — always responsive

The 18-year-old multi-channel B2B in print and digital platform matches the industry’s high growth trajectory. The Indian, South Asian, Southeast Asian, and Middle East packaging industries are increasing capacity and diversification, with high technology and automation in new projects.

We are mid-way through 2024, and India’s real GDP growth for FY 24-25 will exceed 6.3%. The packaging industry growth will match the GDP growth in volume terms and likely surpass it by at least 2.5% according to our research company www.ippstar.org .

The capacity for flexible film manufacturing in India has increased significantly over the past four years. We expect another 20% capacity addition in 2024 and 2025. Capacities in monocartons, corrugation, aseptic liquid packaging, and labels are growing similarly. As the consumption story returns, we expect demand to return and exceed the growth trajectory of previous years. The numbers are positive for most of the economies in the region – and as shown by our analytics, our platform increasingly reaches and influences these.

For responsible and sustainable packaging, with its attendant regulations and compliances, there is significant headroom to grow in India and the region. Our impactful coverage includes the entire packaging supply chain – from concept to shelf, to waste collection, sorting, and recycling. India is where the leading suppliers to the packaging industry are shifting their manufacturing – an opportunity with stable supply chains and low-cost production efficiencies.

We target brand owners, product managers, raw material suppliers, packaging designers and converters, co-packers, and recyclers. If you want to reach them, your agility and innovation shown on the industry-leading platform can do some of the heavy lifting.
